Marilyn Manson es un grupo de rock estadounidense surgido a finales de los años 80 en el sur de Florida. En un principio, Manson escribía poesías, pero al ver que sus "poemas" no caían bien, y siguiendo el "consejo" de uno de los que escuchaban sus poemas, decidió ponerles música y transformarlas en canciones.
El líder y fundador del grupo es Marilyn Manson, cuyo nombre real es Brian Warner. La elección de este nombre, corresponde a la fusión entre la actriz Marilyn Monroe. y el asesino Charles Manson, a través de lo cual se quiere representar la dualidad entre el bien y el mal, entre los extremos del glamour y belleza de Marilyn Monroe y la brutalidad y oscuridad de Charles Manson.
